Jun Bei Liu, portfolio manager for the Tribeca Alpha Plus fund, was recently interviewed by The Australian.

‘Jun Bei Liu is deputy portfolio manager for the Tribeca Alpha Plus fund, a Sydney-based group with almost $1 billion under management. Her investment approach mixes picking quality stocks such as Qantas while “shorting” weaker stocks that the market has overpriced.

There are very few women in funds management in Australia. Any thoughts on why this is so?

Working in the financial industry does involve long hours. For women with young children, time away from family is difficult. Fortunately, rapid advancement of technology enables (us) to work remotely. We are now seeing many organisations offer flexible working hours and ability to work from home. Hopefully soon we will see more women in funds management in Australia.
