Institutional investors are setting their sights on emerging market debt in an environment where equities and interest rates seem fully valued.
Speaking to Financial Standard, GSFM chief executive Damien McIntyre said that interest is “cascading” in EM debt and that it is on the minds of many institutional investors.
“It’s threefold: returns have been strong since energy prices bottomed in 2016, so you’ve seen a decent rebound in EM returns and that has kind of put a floor under the asset class. Obviously, on top of that, there’s a general lack of compelling value propositions in developed markets,” he said.
