The Fed’s high wire balancing act

The US Federal Reserve hiked interest rates by 50 basis points at its May meeting as expected, – the first time the central bank has hiked by that number since the year 2000. Our investment strategist Stephen Miller says the Fed finds itself in a “high wire balancing act”, as it tries to bring down historically high inflation, while also avoiding a major slow down in economic activity.
